At this year’s SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) auto show in Las Vegas, Michelin announced a new line of replacement tires for 5th and 6th generation Corvettes. The new series of performance run-flat tires also include direct replacement sizes for C6 Z06 tires. As the refinement and performance of the Corvette continues each year, so does the demand for this world class, American made sports car. For the first time in over a decade production of all Corvette models peaked above 40,000 units for 2007. This confirms the increased sightings of late model Vettes cruising the streets over the last year. This also means that the demand for an OEM replacement tire has increased as well. Notorious for a loud, rough ride and less than optimal performance, the Goodyear Eagle F1 stock Corvette tires are still one of the best run-flat options available. Because the Corvette comes without a spare tire, being able to make it to the next gas station after a blowout is critical. Michelin hopes to position their new run-flat line as a performance alternative for owners who want to maintain the safety of run-flats, all while improving over the OEM tire’s performance.

Prices have yet to be announced.
