As reported by Leftlane News today, Chrysler is considering a plan that would eliminate re-badged versions of it’s vehicles and give each brand a unique identity.
For those that have driven a 300C / Magnum / Charger, this is a welcome new way of thinking, straight from the brains at newly formed Chrysler, LLC. But what really stands out in this possible plan is this gem:
The new plan calls for the Chrysler brand to sell the automaker’s passenger cars, Dodge to sell pickup and commercial trucks and Jeep to sell the company’s SUVs.
Not only a brilliant way to run your brands, but exactly what we at sho’fr have alluded to in a previous post, “Branding Lessons from Jeep: Designed For A Purpose” and an upcoming post, “Branding Lessons from Jeep: Consistency”.
There is just one sticking point: “racing your Chrysler Viper at the track”, just doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
